Online Marketplaces in Spain: Amazon, Miravia, TikTok Shop

Online marketplaces in Spain compared with official CNMC data: who can sell and fees on Amazon, TikTok Shop, Miravia and Temu, plus VAT, OSS and returns.

Amazon is the marketplace people in Spain use most: in the household survey of Spain’s competition and markets authority (CNMC), 47.8% of people’s most recent online purchase in the fourth quarter of 2025 was made on Amazon, and international platforms such as AliExpress, Temu and Shein together accounted for about a quarter. Beyond them, sellers can choose TikTok Shop (launched in Spain in December 2024), Miravia, Temu’s local seller programme and the marketplaces that retailers such as PcComponentes, Carrefour, Leroy Merlin and El Corte Inglés open to third-party sellers. This guide starts with the official data, compares the platforms on the same points, and then covers the tax, returns and product rules to sort out before you list.

Key takeaway

There is no official overall ranking of marketplaces in Spain; the most reliable data is the CNMC household survey, where Amazon is the most used platform (47.8% of the most recent online purchases) and international platforms such as AliExpress, Temu and Shein add up to about a quarter. TikTok Shop launched in Spain in December 2024, reports more than 21,000 local sellers as of May 2026 and does not require a registered company. Choose by product category, whether you can create short videos and livestreams, and whether you hold stock in Spain, and start with one or two platforms. On any platform you need a tax registration, a 14-day withdrawal right and a 3-year legal guarantee for consumers, mandatory product information in at least Spanish and, for goods made outside the EU, the manufacturer and an EU responsible person shown on the listing.

Top marketplaces in Spain: what the official data says

Spain has no official overall ranking of e-commerce platforms; the most reliable figures come from the CNMC’s regular household survey (Panel de Hogares). According to the survey results published by the CNMC on 5 June 2026 (in Spanish, data for the fourth quarter of 2025):

  • Amazon is the most used platform: 47.8% of respondents’ most recently received online parcels were ordered on Amazon.
  • International platforms add up to about a quarter: AliExpress, Temu, Shein and similar platforms together account for about a quarter.
  • Retailers with physical shops account for 13%: purchases from businesses that also have physical stores.
  • Free delivery is the norm: 83.2% of online shoppers did not pay for delivery of their last parcel.

The “top marketplaces in Spain” lists you find online measure different things, such as website visits, sales or users, so their results differ; check what a list measures before quoting it. Rankings published by the platforms themselves are useful too, as long as you note the source: TikTok Shop, for example, cites NielsenIQ data placing it 16th among online retailers in Spain (see below).

Marketplaces in Spain compared: who can sell, fees and shipping

The main e-commerce platforms in Spain fall into three groups: general and social commerce marketplaces (Amazon, TikTok Shop, Miravia, Temu), retailer marketplaces open to third-party sellers (PcComponentes, Carrefour, Leroy Merlin, El Corte Inglés) and professional accounts on second-hand platforms (Wallapop Pro, Vinted Pro). The two tables below compare them on the same four points, checked on 7 October 2026 on each platform’s official pages: the Amazon Spain seller pricing page, the TikTok Shop Spain seller page, Miravia’s seller FAQ, Temu’s European seller centre, PcComponentes’ seller FAQ, Wallapop Pro and Vinted Pro (all in Spanish except Temu).

General and social commerce marketplaces

Platform Type Who can sell (official wording) Published fees Shipping
Amazon Spain (Amazon.es) General marketplace Individual or Professional selling plan Professional plan €39 a month (excluding VAT), Individual plan €0.99 per unit sold; plus referral fees, most between 8% and 15% depending on the category Ship yourself, or use Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) for shipping, returns and customer service
TikTok Shop Short video and livestream commerce Companies or individuals; without a company, choose the “Autónomo” seller type No registration fee; commission not listed on the page Not listed on the page
Miravia Shopping plus content and entertainment Official brand store (Tienda Oficial) or standard store (Marketplace); company tax details required No fixed costs, commission on sales only, 6% to 15% depending on category and store type (higher for official stores) Delivery by Miravia (DBM): you pack, Miravia sends a carrier to collect
Temu General marketplace (local seller programme) Companies, partnerships and sole proprietorships, or individual sellers; you select the country where your business is registered or where you live No registration fee; other fees not listed on the page Not listed on the page

Retailer marketplaces and second-hand platforms

Platform Type Who can sell (official wording) Published fees Shipping
PcComponentes Electronics retailer’s marketplace Apply through a form; products must fit its categories €39.99 monthly subscription plus a commission per order (2% extra for refurbished products) Your choice of carrier, or its own fulfilment service
Carrefour Hypermarket chain’s marketplace Carrefour selects its sellers Not published Not published
Leroy Merlin DIY and home retailer’s marketplace Apply through the seller form on its website Not published Not published
El Corte Inglés Department store group’s marketplace Has third-party sellers; conditions not published Not published Not published
Wallapop Pro Professional subscription on a second-hand marketplace Businesses or individuals can subscribe From €45 a month (plan for up to 200 listings) You can offer buyers free shipping
Vinted Pro Professional account on a second-hand platform Required if you sell more than what’s in your own wardrobe Not listed on the page Not listed on the page

AliExpress is one of the most used international platforms in the CNMC survey, but we could not find its conditions and fees for sellers in Spain on an official public page, so check the AliExpress seller centre before you apply.

When you compare platforms, add up the monthly fee, commission, shipping and returns. Most online shoppers in Spain don’t pay for delivery (83.2% in the CNMC data above), so shipping usually comes out of your margin. Fees change, so check each platform’s current price list before you sign up. For how marketplaces and your own store fit together, see our guide to online store vs marketplace.

TikTok Shop Spain: launch date, sellers and requirements

TikTok Shop launched in Spain on 10 December 2024, and businesses established in Spain could register in the seller centre from February 2025. The figures below come from TikTok Spain’s official press releases (all in Spanish); the underlying NielsenIQ (NIQ) reports are not public:

  • Launch: the 10 December 2024 press release announced TikTok Shop in Spain “exclusively for businesses based in Spain” and said businesses established in Spain could register from February 2025.
  • Sellers and rankings: the 20 May 2026 press release reported more than 21,000 local sellers in Spain (TikTok internal data, November 2025 to April 2026); citing NIQ’s e-commerce consumer panel for the 52 weeks to 31 March 2026, it placed TikTok Shop 16th among all retailers analysed by NIQ; citing NIQ’s State of Global Beauty in 2026, it called TikTok Shop the seventh-largest online retailer in the beauty category in Spain. The same release said beauty sellers earn on average 65% of their revenue from short videos and livestreams.
  • Growth: the 24 September 2026 press release reported growth of about 150% over the previous 12 months (internal data), said 19% of online shoppers in Spain have bought on TikTok Shop (NIQ data), and said sellers earn on average 70% of their revenue from short videos and livestreams.
  • Requirements: the TikTok Shop Spain seller page says you don’t need a registered company; without one, you select the “Autónomo” seller type when you register, and there is no registration fee. The page doesn’t list the documents required, so follow the prompts in the seller centre.

Note that “no company needed” on the platform does not mean no tax registration: selling regularly in Spain is a business activity, and you must register with the tax agency first (see “Before you list” below).

Which marketplace to choose by product and business

Narrow the options by what you sell and what you are good at, then start with one or two platforms; opening too many stores at once spreads your time thin. The table below is our suggestion, not a ranking:

What you sell Platforms to look at first Why (official information)
Household goods and small homeware Amazon, Temu Amazon is the most used online shopping platform; Temu accepts local sellers in Spain with no registration fee
New clothing, shoes, bags and accessories Amazon, Miravia, TikTok Shop Miravia offers official brand stores and standard stores; TikTok Shop sellers earn most of their revenue from short videos and livestreams
Beauty and personal care TikTok Shop, Miravia, Amazon TikTok reports being the seventh-largest online beauty retailer in Spain
Electronics and accessories Amazon, PcComponentes PcComponentes is an electronics retailer’s marketplace
Home, DIY and garden Amazon, Leroy Merlin, Carrefour Marketplaces of a DIY retailer and a hypermarket chain
Your own brand Miravia official store, El Corte Inglés, your own online store Miravia’s official stores are for brands and get more visibility on the platform
End-of-line stock and second-hand Wallapop Pro, Vinted Pro (mainly clothing) Professional accounts on second-hand platforms

Then look at how your business works:

  • You hold stock in Spain or run a shop: local stock lets you control delivery and returns. On Amazon you can ship yourself or hand fulfilment to FBA. Start with fast-moving, durable products that rarely come back.
  • You can make videos and livestreams: TikTok Shop sellers earn on average 70% of their revenue from short videos and livestreams, so showing your products, stock and suppliers on camera is a natural fit.
  • You want to build your own brand: use marketplaces to test products and win first customers while you build your own site to keep customer data; see Shopify vs WooCommerce vs a custom store.

A few common mistakes: a new store has no reviews, so listing alone rarely brings traffic and you usually need ads or promotions to start (for ads outside the platforms, see Google Ads vs Meta ads); pricing without counting commission and shipping can mean selling at a loss; and relying only on marketplaces leaves you exposed to rule and fee changes, without your own customer data.

Before you list: tax ID, VAT, OSS and invoices

Selling regularly on marketplaces in Spain is a business activity, so you must register with the tax agency (AEAT) before you start and trade as a self-employed person (autónomo) or a company:

  • Registration and tax ID: file the tax agency’s census registration form (Form 036) before you start trading. A company’s tax ID is the NIF (formerly called CIF, a name some platform forms still use). Check your tax regime and VAT filing with your gestor or accountant.
  • OSS (the EU VAT One Stop Shop): if you only sell within Spain, OSS doesn’t apply. If you ship from Spain to consumers in other EU countries and those sales exceed €10,000 a year in total, VAT is due at the rate of the buyer’s country; with OSS you register and file in one country instead of in each one. In Spain, the tax agency’s VAT and e-commerce page covers the forms: Form 035 to register and Form 369 to file.
  • Invoices and Verifactu: on marketplaces, invoicing your customers is usually your job; PcComponentes’ seller FAQ, for example, states that the seller invoices the end customer, and on other platforms your contract decides. If you invoice with software, the system must meet Verifactu: under current law, companies need a compliant system before 1 January 2027 and sole traders and other businesses before 1 July 2027; on 5 October 2026 the Ministry of Finance announced a plan to move this to October 2028, but as of 7 October 2026 it has not been published in the official gazette (BOE). See our Verifactu guide.

Product compliance: CE marking, Spanish labels, manufacturer details and recycling registers

Product rules depend on the category, but most businesses selling online in Spain run into the following:

  • CE marking: only products covered by harmonised EU rules must carry the CE mark, such as toys, drones, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and personal protective equipment; products with no such EU requirements must not carry it (Your Europe).
  • Spanish labels: the mandatory labelling information for goods sold in Spain must appear at least in Spanish (castellano), under article 18 of the General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users (in Spanish). Other languages can appear alongside it, but not instead of it.
  • Manufacturer details on the listing: article 19 of the EU General Product Safety Regulation (2023/988) requires online listings, since 13 December 2024, to show clearly the manufacturer’s name, postal and email address, a product picture, its type or model and any safety warnings; if the manufacturer is outside the EU (for example, a factory in China), the listing must also give the name, postal and email address of the EU responsible person.
  • Electrical and electronic equipment: a business established in Spain that places electrical and electronic equipment imported from outside the EU on the Spanish market counts as a “producer” under Royal Decree 110/2015 (in Spanish) and must register in the Integrated Industrial Register (Registro Integrado Industrial); for online sales, the registration number must appear on the product page and on the invoice (article 9).
  • Packaging: under Royal Decree 1055/2022 (in Spanish), the “producers” of packaged products include packers and businesses that import packaged products or buy them in other EU countries; they must register in the packaging section of the Producers Register (article 15) and report data every year. For goods sold through e-commerce platforms, the platform takes on these obligations for the shipping packaging (article 17). Check with your gestor whether and from what volume this applies to you.

Your listings are part of compliance too: titles, descriptions and size charts should read naturally in Spanish, and mandatory information shouldn’t rely on machine translation alone. For the other legal requirements of websites and online stores, see our Spain website legal checklist.

When you sell online to consumers, they can withdraw without giving a reason within 14 calendar days of receiving the goods, and the legal guarantee lasts 3 years from delivery:

  • 14-day right of withdrawal: under article 9 of the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and article 102 of the Spanish consumer law (in Spanish), consumers can withdraw from a distance contract within 14 calendar days without giving any reason, counted from the day they receive the goods (article 104). Exceptions include goods made to the consumer’s specifications and sealed goods unsealed after delivery that can’t be returned for health or hygiene reasons (article 103). The right protects consumers buying from businesses, so it doesn’t apply to second-hand sales between private individuals.
  • 3-year legal guarantee: under article 120 of the same law (in Spanish), the seller is liable for any lack of conformity that exists at delivery and becomes apparent within 3 years; for second-hand goods the parties can agree a shorter period, but not less than 1 year.
  • Platform rules can go further: PcComponentes’ seller FAQ, for example, sets a 30-day return period and a 3-year guarantee.

Before you list, decide on a returns address, who handles returns and who answers customer questions and after-sales requests in Spanish. Service quality also affects visibility: PcComponentes, for example, says winning the Buybox (the default buy button on a product page) depends on price, shipping time and the seller’s service quality.

FAQ

What are the top online marketplaces in Spain?

Spain has no official overall ranking of online marketplaces. In the CNMC household survey published in June 2026 (fourth quarter of 2025), Amazon is the most used platform, with 47.8% of people’s most recent online purchases, and international platforms such as AliExpress, Temu and Shein account for about a quarter together. Citing NielsenIQ data, TikTok Shop says it ranks 16th among online retailers in Spain and 7th in beauty.

What are the TikTok Shop Spain requirements for sellers?

The TikTok Shop Spain seller page says you don’t need a registered company: without one, you choose the “Autónomo” seller type, and registration is free. When TikTok Shop launched in Spain in December 2024, it was open to businesses established in Spain. The page doesn’t publish a list of documents, so follow the seller centre’s prompts. Selling regularly in Spain is a business activity, so you also need to register with the tax agency.

Can I sell online in Spain as an individual?

You can sell your own second-hand items now and then with a personal account on Wallapop or Vinted; Vinted says that if you sell more than what’s in your own wardrobe, you must register as a professional (Vinted Pro). Selling regularly for profit is a business activity: register with the tax agency (Form 036) before you start, trade as a self-employed person or company and pay the corresponding taxes; check the details with a gestor or accountant.

What is Miravia, and can I still sell on it?

Miravia is a shopping and entertainment marketplace for the Spanish market that launched at the end of 2022; it is still operating as of October 2026 and says more than 10,000 brands and sellers have joined. You can open an official brand store or a standard store, with no fixed costs and a commission on sales of 6% to 15% depending on the category and store type. To join, you fill in the form on Miravia’s seller page and provide your company’s tax details.
